Things I have built

I believe the right systems help people compound their output. Recently, I have built automations that remove repetitive operational work and developed habits that eliminate routine decisions - giving me more time and mental space to focus on things that matter to me.

Reminders → Habits

I love to use Apple's Reminders app to build habits. Every routine I want to build - reading, meditation, gratitude prayer, skincare, vitamins intake, daily recap, learning AI tools - becomes a daily recurring reminder at a fixed time each day.

The nudge does the heavy lifting until the behaviour becomes automatic. After a few weeks, the reminder is just a quiet confirmation. This has been super effective for me and I encourage others to try it out!

A new way of positive thinking

I learnt about WOOP - a thinking technique by Gabriele Oettingen, a German academic and psychologist. It stands for Wish, Outcome, Obstacle and Plan. I came across this technique when listening to a Mark Manson's podcast on building confidence and I started using it regularly.

I had always manifested by thinking about the outcome and entertaining only positive thoughts. But this rarely worked for me - in fact, it lowered my confidence and I caught myself being pessimistic. WOOP taught me to envision the obstacle and plan an if-then response. I strongly believe this technique increases my chance of achieving what I want as I am no longer caught off-guard when I encounter resistance.

A recent wish of mine is to get an amazing job in London, where I am working on cool projects with caring colleagues. When the obstacle "I doubt it's possible to achieve this wish" appears, my plan is to say "This too shall pass." This allows me to stop wallowing in sorrow and take control of my emotions.

I encourage you to try it out!
