What I have been working toward

I supported the development of OSE's sustainability report and helped integrate sustainability across the portfolio

• Estimating Carbon Emissions: This was ~50% of my work. I had to clean 8,000+ rows of financial transactions into a structured format. This was ingested into a carbon calculator that estimated OSE's direct and indirect emissions.
• Verifying Facts: This was ~20% of my work. I built an evidence trail for over 350+ facts and claims that we stated in our sustainability report by signposting to the original source (academic papers, SharePoint documents, email threads, etc.).
• Sustainability Workshops: This was ~15% of my work. I supported my manager in organising and delivering sustainability training to founders of new spin-outs - in simple terms, I coordinated diaries for scheduling, took notes during the workshop and collated sustainability resources for founders. My favourite part of the workshop was understanding how they thought about the unintended negative consequences of their product / service.
• Ad-hoc Projects: The rest of my work. Largely involved completing questionnaires posed by investors and resolving data transfer issues between platforms.

I worked with the UK and Australian commercial research teams at a global law firm

I benchmarked national and global maritime research centres 

One of the best years of my life. Got a chance to call Edinburgh my home and met some amazing people from different parts of the world. My friends inspired me to care for more things beyond myself - and gave me the chance to practice patience, empathy and consistency. I also learnt important skills such as carbon accounting and double materiality assessments - these ultimately helped in securing my internship at OSE. I will always remember my time here with fondness.

I learnt concepts ranging from thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to materials science and engineering design. My time here was foundational to who I am and how I think - adopting a problem solving approach. This approach extends to my personal life as well and I am quite grateful for my learnings.

I built foundational knowledge in Computer Science (C++), Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I was also involved in the FIITJEE Integrated Classroom Program, which helped prepare me for the JEE exam.

We built a personal carbon footprint tracker primarily targeted for the University of Edinburgh student body

• I was inspired to work on this project after the carbon accounting course taught by Prof. Matthew Brander. He was amazing. Overconsumption is a challenge that we all collectively face and we are naturally wired to consume more. PawXero was created with the hopes of shifting the mindset of a user to consume responsibly.
• We built PawXero using Lovable and promoted the calculator to the student body by setting engagement booths outside the University of Edinburgh Library. My biggest takeaway was that people are far more willing to change when they understand the impact of their actions and are given practical alternatives.
